High street banking group HSBC has announced a number of commitments to help support the growth of UK businesses.
The firm has confirmed that it lent more than £38.8 billion to UK companies in 2012, exceeding the target set by the government as part of the Project Merlin agreement.
Of this figure, £11.7 billion was lent to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and plans to lend even more to small firms in 2012.

Nearly three quarters of online retailers expect to experience growth this year, according to new research.
The eighth annual UK Online Fraud Report by CyberSource revealed that 73 per cent of firms expect to post a rise in sales in 2012.
Digital goods businesses are anticipating average online revenue growth of 33 per cent, with small firms ambitiously predicting a 35 per cent surge in sales.

Firms in the London borough of Wandsworth are set to recruit more apprentices after the council secured a £1.25 million fund.
Wandsworth Council secured the funds, which will be split with Merton, Sutton, Croydon, Kingston and Richmond councils, to help 16 to 19-year-olds access apprenticeships and other training over the next two years.

UK consumers are increasingly using mobile devices for online mobile shopping sessions, according to new research.
